Blender 3D

OK, I'll try to be brief... Blender is possibly the best friend you'll ever have when it comes to 3D modeling and animation!

This software combines the tools from several others and more! It gets you inside a simple, organized, user friendly universe that even those that are new to this kind of program, can easily make use of, without major barriers.
Let me compare it a bit with Autodesk software... I can honestly say that the first time I laid eyes on 3DS Max, I got a headache. Besides the actual interface layout being sort of simple and well organized, you lose yourself when it starts opening extra windows with tons of other buttons and settings you can change but that aren't really needed for that situation in particular.
Blender is different... You can model much more fluently! Let me try to explain... When it comes to modeling, you can start with a single vertex and end up with a dragon using only 4 simple actions: move, rotate, scale and extrude; and all of those are a shortcut away... I know that 3DS also has shortcuts, but Blender makes everything much more intuitive and has easier access to everything you need! You have tools similar to those in ZBrush or any Autodesk software, a game engine, plus some others tools for video editing and script writing all in one program, I mean... How much more do you need?! You can even customize the layout according to your own preferences...

But OK, now the down part. When you make such a wide ranged tool, you can't expect it to work perfectly. For example, you use a pair of scissors to cut, but you can also use it to screw a bolt though you're not going to do a great job. The same happens with blender... BUT, fortunately, you can import and export to all the types of file formats you'll ever need, from 3D to image and video file formats. So, if you are unhappy with the performance of any of Blenders tools, you can just export, use a more "professional" software and bring the work back to Blender again...

In conclusion, I just want to say that Blender is really all you need to make a great game, if you use, properly, what is given to you. Besides that, it's also a free open source software forever improving, with people working every day on new tools to make your job just a little bit easier...
